We have this gorgeous apricot tree in our front yard and by mid July they were ready to pick. We have been so busy that we hadn't had time to pick any and before we knew it people were literally knocking on our door to ask if they could have some! Three times in one day folks from out neighborhood came by to ask about them. It was a great chance to meet people and we knew we wouldn't be able to eat them all so of course we let everyone have some. It was too funny. So the next day I decided to climb up in the tree and pick as many as I could. As I was up in the tree a professor from Tech came walking by (we live 2 blocks from campus). He began telling me that every year he and his wife would come over and pick apricots. Apparently Greg and I were clueless to the treasure we had in our own front yard. So I said, "Well we will be out of town this weekend but feel free to come by and take as much as you want." He was so appreciative that he even offered to clean our yard from the mess that was made by the fruit that had fallen and that birds had been picking on. When we came home our yard was absolutely spotless and our tree was picked CLEAN! I have no idea how they did it but there was not a single apricot left on that tree!
