Thanksgiving Wrap-Up

I must say that this is by far my favorite time of the year. From Thanksgiving all the way to New Year’s it is non-stop good food, great company, and wonderful memories. This Thanksgiving was no exception. We had an action packed weekend visiting with relatives, shopping and watching football.

On Thursday we ate a delicious breakfast feast with Greg’s family. Then we headed to my parents house to eat Turkey Dinner with my family. My Aunt Jan was there with her wonderful family.

Friday morning I woke up with a terrible eye infection that I got from my little brother. He had an ulcer on his eye a couple weeks ago, which got infected without him knowing it. Being the affectionate big sister that I am, I wiped and tear from his cheek when it was watering (dumb)! I also forgot to pack my glasses on the trip. I am pretty much blind without glasses or contacts. So I spent the next three days with only the vision of my right eye. My let eye was scary red. Lesson learned: don’t touch other people’s eyes and never leave home without glasses!

Friday we went shopping in downtown McKinney and dinner with Greg’s aunts and uncles. We ate leftovers from their Turkey dinner and it was great even the second time around. Aunt Lynn had an awesome recipe of yams with apples. It was sooo good. I cant wait to try it.

Saturday night we had an early Christmas with my mom’s family. It has become sort of a tradition for everyone to bring a $25-ish gift to play Chinese Gift Exchange. It is really fun and I love tradition!

We drove back to Lubbock Sunday afternoon and got back in time for the grand opening of the new Caprock Restaurant and Sports Bar. It is such a great restaurant. If you live in Lubbock or just here for a visit, you must check it out.

Despite the eye infection, our Thanksgiving was pretty great. If we spend Thanksgiving in Dallas next year, I hope to participate in the Turkey Trot which is an 8 mile run around White Rock Lake.  My Dad does it every year and I hope that it will develop into a family tradition and other’s in our family will join. McEvilly’s, Chandler’s… any takers? My friend Jenni has a great family tradition where everyone brings a pie to Thanksgiving dinner. All the family members vote on their favorite pie and the winner gets a prize. I would love to hear about your family traditions. Please comment to this post and tell me about them!
